Braden’s Story

Congenital Heart Defect

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome

Braden was born with a rare congenital heart defect - he was had no left ventricle. Braden underwent two open-heart surgeries, one at just six days old and the other at three months of age. For the next two and half years, Braden thrived and lived life like any other toddler. He especially loved Diego & Dora, counting in Spanish and singing his ABCs. He loved to sing, especially Johnny Cash and the songs he learned at story hour. He was notorious for making sound effects with his cars and trucks and had a fascination with fire trucks.

Sadly and unexpectedly, Braden suffered a fatal heart arrhythmia. With Braden, we've had the privilege of experiencing life, hope, promise, and new beginnings. We've also witnessed the power of prayer many times throughout Braden's journey. Every day we are so thankful for the 2.5 years he blessed and enriched our lives. He will forever be our hero, our strength, and proudly our son.
